Arthur Gene Knippa, 87, of Lubbock, passed away November 15, 2024, in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Hochheim, TX on November 13, 1937, to Paul Edmond Knippa and Mary Josephine (Williams) Knippa. He grew up in Yoakum, TX and moved to Lubbock, TX in 1955. Arthur married Rosemary Bond at First Baptist Church, Ropesville, TX on August 23, 1957. His career as a professional painter included membership of the Painter’s Union where he worked for several paint contractors. He also worked for Furr’s P&E Department for 15 years and owned his own painting business until he suffered a stroke on December 24, 1997.
Arthur loved God and his family. He had a generous heart and often helped those in need. He was a member of Redbud Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing 42 with the Primetimers church group. He loved writing and singing original songs, playing his guitar, woodworking, and camping and hiking in the mountains. Some of the happiest years of his life were spent designing and building a cabin and furniture for his family in Red River, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Owen Lee Knippa, sisters, Hollie Sparkman and Mildred Von Haefen. Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Rosemary, daughters, Kathy Stone and Karen (Gip) Aldrich, son, Keith (Melissa) Knippa, grandchildren, Matt (Rachel) Stone and Kirsten Stone, great grandchild, Jeremiah Stone, brother Donald Paul Knippa, and his beloved dog Maria.
Graveside service will be Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 5740 W. 19th St., Lubbock, TX. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm at Redbud Baptist Church, 801 Slide Rd, Lubbock, TX, 79416. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Redbud Baptist Church Building Fund.
