Arther Lee Griffin departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 23, 2023. The family will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 85 years is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Sunset Church of Christ, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Arther Lee Griffin was born January 6, 1938, to Ruel Wilmer and Ruby Hazel (Edwards) Griffin in Crosbyton, TX. He graduated from Crosbyton High School and lived there for many years of his adult life. He married Mary Nell Hickman on May 17, 1959, in Wake, TX. Arther is best described as an entrepreneur and businessman, owning Auto Supply Company in Crosbyton, TX for many years. He moved to Lubbock in the early 1980’s, where he became an active member of Sunset Church of Christ. Arther had always enjoyed taking care of elderly adults so when the opportunity came available, he and Mary Nell became founders/owners of Frontier Living Center (a retirement home), Just Like Home (a personal care home), and Wedgewood South Assisted Living Center. Arther was involved in many other organizations throughout his life. He held many leadership positions and was selected as “Citizen of the Year” twice. He was a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department, Crosbyton City Council, sponsor of 4-H and Little League Baseball, which he also coached, and the Romeos (Retired Old Men Eating Out). His hobbies included any kind of hunting, as well as fishing and golf. Arther was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders fan.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Nell Griffin; children, Monty Joe (Carla) Griffin, Kimbra Lee (Jerry) Cumby, and Marty (Kelly) Griffin; grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Griffin, Katie (Matt) Tims, Wade (Adrienne) Griffin, Kylee (Kyle) Eastman, Drue (Jordan) Griffin, and Taylor Griffin; great-grandchildren, Nella, Joleigh, Greyson, Ethan, Trey, Leighton, Henry, Jack, Freya, and Kyler; and brother, Forrest (Elaine) Griffin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruel and Ruby Griffin; brother, R.W. (Dub) Griffin; sister, Joanna Lee Richardson; and grandson, Erick Lee Griffin.
