Margaret Anne Young passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 78 years on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 2 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel.
Anne was born on October 15, 1939, to John and Era (Beesley) Ratliff in Gracemont, Oklahoma and graduated from Sudan High School. Anne was in the first class attending Lubbock Christian College in 1957, where she met the love of her life, Delton Young. The couple were married on March 15, 1959, in Sudan Texas. She and Delton made their early home in Littlefield and Brownfield, Texas before moving to Wellman, Texas in 1965 where they lived for 53 years. Anne was active in all aspects of her family’s life; stock shows, sports, and especially in the spiritual lives of her family. She and Delton were active members of the Wellman Church of Christ and later the Brownfield Church of Christ. Anne loved art and was a prolific painter. She was active in the Brownfield Art Association and was a key organizer of their annual art show, regularly entering her own work. She and Delton moved to Lubbock in January of 2018 to be near her family.
Survivors include her husband, Delton W. Young; two sons, Allen Young and wife, Karri; and Douglas Young and wife, Shauna all of Lubbock; daughter, Sharon Cox and husband, Ed of Abilene; eight grandchildren, Heather Smarr and husband, Jason of Marble Falls, Sarah Young, Grayson Young and wife, Kendra, Samuel Young and wife, Amanda, and Graham Young all of Lubbock, Tiffany Cox and Rachael Cox both of Abilene, and Griffin Young of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Smarr, Peyton Smarr, and Veronica Munos;
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and four sisters.
