James Allen Kemper was born on October 15, 1939, to James and Ruby Botts Kemper in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Amarillo High School and married Shirley Kay Holsapple. Together, they had three sons: Brent, Kevin, and Bryan Kemper. Allen was extremely proud to serve in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he worked as a Finance Officer. He also served in the United States Army Reserve Force. Allen received his Bachelor of Business Administration from West Texas State College and spent the majority of his career in the business world as a Certified Public Accountant. He was still actively working as a CPA until his passing.
Eventually, Allen and Shirley completed their marriage, and later on, Allen married Ida May “Sam” Cross in Midland, Texas. Allen loved living in Texas, road trips, playing dominoes, and one of his favorite pastimes was watching the Dallas Cowboys play, both in their home stadium and on television.
Allen is survived by his children, Brent Kemper, Kevin Kemper, Bryan Kemper, Lynn Brinckmeyer, Jeff Brinckmeyer; grandchildren, Lanette Pierce, Willie and TK Pierce, Gus and Kayla Brinckmeyer, Heather Welch, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida May “Sam” Kemper; parents, James and Ruby Kemper; brother Joe Kemper; children Max Brinckmeyer, Melinda Dube, Craig Brinckmeyer; grandchildren, Iris Brinckmeyer, Ty Pierce.
He died on April 18, 2025, at the age of 85.
