Obituary

The family of Delmas McCormick will celebrate his life of 86 years at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers followed by graveside services at 3:00 PM in the Floydada Memorial Park. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed on Monday, April 4, 2022. On January 22, 1936, Allen Delmas McCormick was born to Weldon and Jewel McCormick in Floydada, TX. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1954 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for two years.  He married Pauline Ward on October 10, 1958, in Slaton, Texas with his uncle C.F. Love officiating.  They moved east of Floydada where Delmas continued to farm and they began their family.  Delmas served on many committees and boards throughout his life.  He served nine years on the Board of Directors at the Floydada Co-Op Gins and fourteen years on the board at Floyd County Farm Bureau where he was the President from 1980 to 1981.  He was on the Texas Farm Bureau board for six years, serving 4 years as Secretary and one year as Vice-President.  In 2000, Delmas received a Distinguished Service Award from Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company which was followed by the same service award in 2001 from Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company.  In 2006, Delmas received the Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer Award in honor of his pioneering leadership and exceptional service to agriculture and to the Texas Farm Bureau.  He was also very active in the Masonic Lodge.  He was a member of the Floydada Masonic Lodge 712, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.  He was also a member of the Wolfforth Frenship Lodge 1447, where he received the Golden Trowel Award in 2018.  He was also a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline McCormick; their children, Mark Allen (Kelly) McCormick, Amy Tryvonne (Jonathan) Clark, and Anita Renee (Sammy) Elliott; grandchildren, Daniel McCormick, Chynna McCormick, McCrae McCormick, Madolyn McCormick, Jeffrey Elliott, Lauren Elliott, Taylor Clark, and Ashlyn Clark, 6 great-grandchildren;  a sister-in-law, Sybil Ward, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Dorman McCormick; brother, Wayne McCormick; and sister, Rita Lyles.
